hiya :) sorry for the late response just wanted to say i really really appreciated the comment on my wallpaper i wanted to use the same scan like twice, once in vertical and once again in horizontal so they create that same but different effect due to the way they were cropped. but yeh i was too picky and couldn't decide on other scans i completely agree with you though, i overused that image to the left too much for times to be exact, thanks for that, i'll get to revising it sometime :) thank you for leaving behind a comment hope you have an awesome day :)

Thanks for your comment on my latest wall, I wonder how I'll be able to get the sharpness higher, the quality always seems to deteriorate after it's submitted into AP. Maybe I'll do a little bit more work and perhaps even change the scan...

I've read your comment nova, thanks. I guess I could use desaturate, dunno why I've never thought about that...usually when I do use threshold, I make sure to Gaussian blur it, but I either blur too little or too much. As for the text, GIMP doesn't allow random placement in different direcions of text (ie. text around something or curved text) unless you draw a path first and make the text go on the path, nothing wrong with that, except sometimes the letters can become deformed when the path is too curvy.

I'll definitely look into inkscape, I actually did a bit of research around inkscape, but I decide to stick with GIMP for the time being.

I used to chop cars, which is a big difference from making walls of this type!

Another thing that slightly pisses me off is the lack of brushes for GIMP, specifically feather brushes, there is only ONE feather brush available, and it's horrible.

Thanks for your motivating critique of my wall nova, I know this wall still has a long way to go, mostly due to my lack of knowledge in the wall designing aspects. I still have a long way to go too!

I use GIMP, and for the vectors, instead of actual vectoring, since there are close to zero vectoring tutorials for GIMP, I use Threshold, which basically controls the brightness and contrast while deleting the colours. It's exact purpose, I have yet to discover. There is nothing wrong with the font I'm using, they are standard fonts that come with GIMP, high quality. For the typography, first I draw out paths, then I basically type out the words, and hit "text to path" and delete the word layer, and filling in the new layer on the path with colour. I usually fill with white or grey, or a solid colour, depending on my design. For the words that have colour variation, I always fill with white or grey, and then fill in with colour, and smoothing/antialias the colours so the white and grey disappear, which sometime causes blurring or jagged edges, depending on the colours used.

I know this is probably the worst way to go about it, but my resources are limited, as is my wall creating knowledge, and just graphic designing knowledge in general. I often take much longer than usual to create something that could take a mere day or two to complete. Sometimes, in order to rid the wall of jagged edges, I fill the colours pixel by pixel, which is extremely inefficient and time consuming. My wall "Let's Rock" was more of an experiment for myself. To be honest, I was inspired by Assa's style while making this wall, but I just wanted to see where I could take typography.

If I could get my hands on PS, I'm sure there would be many more tutorials available for me.

However, if you have any experience with GIMP, or know of how to create vectors on GIMP, please help me! I would greatly appreciate it, as your scans are all magnificent, and having used two of your scans for both my walls, I know you are very skilled in this field.

Never got to reply on your comment for my latest wall. Anyway, the issue was more on mediocrity rather than anything else. Got tired on working on the background that I told myself, "I think this is good enough". Nevertheless, good enough doesn't really cut it.

Anyway, I'm in the process of making a very major wall. Now, I'm outlining the background. Also, it'll be composed to 9 extractions then it'll be vectored. Hope to hear from your comments for it

Been browsing through the comments on the walls I've done. I've read the ones you've made. And, I appreciate your critiques. I'll try to work on them as time goes by. Recently I've been on a slump and couldn't get any inspiration for a new wall. My 6th one sucked... big time. I also put the Bakemonogatari (Tony Taka) wall on hold for now.

But, now I'm working K-On!, liked the anime and I hope this next wall will look great. If you don't mind, can I PM you the link to the imageshack file of my work and can you give me your opinion on that?

Regarding the characters’ designs looking a bit off… well that’s ‘cause they were drawn differently just for the ending sequence (experimental approach by the director...)

So don't think you can't vector without a tablet, because that is definitely not true. :D

I just read your reply. Sorry for replying so late. I got swamped with work with the hospital and concentrated a lot on my new wall. Anyway, I've always found using warp to help in final alterations of shape when you don't have time and the changes are too large to just re-vector. Actually, the building at the left (near death the kid) is leaning too much to the center. You could use warp to "drag" the middle part to the sides of the wall, then I guess you'll get a better looking fish eye look.

Oh thanks for your comments on my walls. Actually, I use only my trackpad for making vectors, I plan on getting a pen soon. While I'm at it, please check my new wall too. It's up in the gallery :)

hey there XD thank you for leaving behind a comment on my recent wallpaper i appreciate it and yeh i did a bit dodgy jopb on the angling of the texts on the shoes but i had the font layer rasterized for some parts to reduce the time it takes to get things done because each letter in her body was a new layer, took me ages to load it up in my crappy PC and i was just lazy to redo it again basically XD lol
